MPPOA Names ACSO Deputy Officer Of The Year

Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association 2024 Officer of the Year is Anoka County Sheriff’s Deputy Tanner Shipman.

While on vacation in Sturgis, South Dakota in August 2023, Shipman stopped at a convenience store and came across a suspect pointing and then shooting his gun at a South Dakota State Trooper, according to a press release from MPPOA. Shipman retrieved his sister-in-law’s handgun and moved to assist the trooper, who had since fallen to the ground. He identified himself as a member of law enforcement, and saw the suspect getting into the trooper’s vehicle.
