COLUMBUS, Minn. — The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is renewing its appeal for public assistance as it marks the five-year anniversary of the discovery of 20-year-old Mort Siwe’s body — a homicide case that remains unsolved.
Siwe, a St. Paul resident, was found deceased on October 17, 2020, in the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area in Columbus, Minnesota. According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Siwe was discovered with severe head trauma, and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office later determined his death was the result of a physical assault. The case has been classified as a homicide and remains open under Case Number 20-256155.
Investigators developed several leads following the discovery, but no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed. The case continues to be actively investigated by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Homicide Unit, which is appealing once again for information that could help bring closure to Siwe’s family and justice in the case.
Authorities emphasize that tips can be submitted anonymously. Anyone with information about Siwe’s death is urged to contact the Cold Case Homicide Unit by emailing ACSOColdCases@anokacountymn.gov.
