Fresh Food Wednesday Returns to South Minneapolis: Sanneh Foundation and CUHCC Partner to Distribute Free Produce Oct. 22

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Sanneh Foundation, in partnership with the Community-University Health Care Center (CUHCC), will host a free community food distribution event on Wednesday, October 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the CUHCC parking lot, 2001 Bloomington Avenue South, Minneapolis. The event is part of CUHCC’s ongoing Fresh Food Wednesday initiative, designed to make healthy, culturally relevant produce accessible to South Minneapolis residents.

Addressing Food Insecurity Through Partnership

The Fresh Food Wednesdays program represents a collaborative effort to combat food insecurity in the Ventura Village area and surrounding neighborhoods, where rates of food hardship remain higher than the Hennepin County average. The Sanneh Foundation partners with Second Harvest Heartland, the Abbott Fund, and CUHCC to distribute fresh fruits, vegetables, and other essential food items—completely free of charge—to both CUHCC patients and local residents.

Beyond food distribution, the event also connects community members to vital health and social services. CUHCC staff are available on-site to assist participants with setting up medical appointments and accessing programs that support overall well-being.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags to carry distributed food. The event is open to all, regardless of residency or patient status.

Through initiatives like Fresh Food Wednesday, The Sanneh Foundation and CUHCC continue to demonstrate how cross-sector partnerships can bridge the gap between healthcare and food access, ensuring that families in Minneapolis not only survive but thrive.
