GOLDEN VALLEY, MN (August 19, 2026) Animal Humane Society is breaking ground Wednesday on a new veterinary clinic intended to expand access to affordable care for thousands of pets across the Twin Cities.

The two-story, 13,000-square-foot building will be constructed at the organization’s Golden Valley campus at 845 Meadow Lane North.

Animal Humane Society said the expanded facility will double the capacity of its existing clinic and allow the organization to serve approximately 10,000 additional pets each year.

The clinic will provide preventive examinations and routine veterinary care, spay and neuter procedures, dental services and specialty surgeries.

Plans approved by the City of Golden Valley include examination rooms, treatment areas, a surgical suite, a dental suite and other clinical-support spaces. Administrative offices and operational-support areas will occupy the second floor.

A 5,600-square-foot storage building on the northern portion of the property will be demolished to make room for the clinic. The campus will also be reconfigured to provide additional parking and connect the new building with existing Animal Humane Society operations.

The Golden Valley City Council approved the planned-unit-development amendment for the project July 7.

The organization’s current Golden Valley clinic provides scheduled veterinary services from its Meadow Lane campus. Animal Humane Society also operates a clinic at 1159 University Avenue West in Saint Paul.

Its services are designed to provide options for families who may otherwise struggle to afford veterinary treatment. Charges and eligibility requirements vary by procedure and program.

The expansion comes as veterinary costs and limited appointment availability continue to make preventive and surgical care difficult to obtain for some pet owners.

The project also represents a significant reinvestment in Animal Humane Society’s Golden Valley campus, where the organization has maintained operations for several decades.

Construction is beginning in August. The organization has not advised residents that regular adoption or clinic operations will stop during the project, but visitors should watch for temporary parking or access changes as work progresses.
