MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Three Feeding Our Future Defendants Sentenced to Combined 155 Months in Federal Prison

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (August 28, 2026) Three more defendants in the Feeding Our Future fraud case have been sentenced to a combined 155 months in federal prison for stealing money from programs intended to provide meals to children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota announced the sentences Thursday.

Abdihakim Ali Ahmed, 40, of Apple Valley, was sentenced to 54 months in prison for one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering. Ahmed pleaded guilty in March 2025 and was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Nancy Brasel.

Ahmed Abdullahi Ghedi, 35, of Minneapolis, received a 65-month sentence for one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering. Ghedi pleaded guilty in June 2025 and was also sentenced Wednesday by Brasel.

Ahmed Sharif Omar-Hashim, 43, of Minneapolis, also known as Salah Donyale, was sentenced Thursday to 36 months in prison for one count of wire fraud. He pleaded guilty in December 2023.

The three men are the 24th, 25th and 26th defendants sentenced in the Feeding Our Future investigation, according to federal prosecutors.

Prosecutors said the broader conspiracy fraudulently obtained approximately $250 million from the Federal Child Nutrition Program by submitting fabricated meal counts, attendance records and invoices during the pandemic.

Authorities said the defendants helped generate impossible meal counts at Safari Restaurant and associated food-distribution sites.

The case was investigated by the FBI, IRS Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rebecca Kline, Matthew Murphy and Austin Bowyer prosecuted the cases. Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Baune is handling the seizure and forfeiture of assets.
