MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Legacy Christian Academy to Pay Anoka County $158,439 for School Resource Officer

ANDOVER, MN (August 28, 2026) Legacy Christian Academy will pay Anoka County at least $158,439 for a Sheriff’s Office school resource officer during the 2026-27 academic year.

The Anoka County Board approved the agreement August 25.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office will provide an officer at the Andover school during regular school hours.

County documents say the officer’s presence is intended to promote a positive and supportive school climate and help create and maintain a safe and secure school environment.

The contract runs from August 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027.

Legacy Christian Academy agreed to pay the county $158,439, along with any additional compensation required under the agreement. County documents reviewed by MinneapoliMedia did not describe the circumstances under which additional payments could be assessed.

The school, rather than Anoka County taxpayers, is responsible for the stated contract payment.

School resource officers typically work within school buildings while retaining their authority as sworn law-enforcement officers. Their responsibilities can include responding to reported crimes and emergencies, coordinating safety planning and developing relationships with students and school employees.

The county’s public summary did not identify the assigned officer or provide a complete description of the officer’s day-to-day responsibilities, disciplinary role or information-sharing arrangements with school administrators.

Legacy Christian Academy is a private Christian school in Andover serving students from prekindergarten through high school.
