MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Ramsey Man Arrested After Teenage Girls Report Attempted Abduction in Ramsey and Sexual Assault in Coon Rapids
Authorities say two reports involving teenage girls on the same day in Ramsey and Coon Rapids led investigators across multiple law-enforcement agencies to a 20-year-old Ramsey man who was arrested Friday.
COON RAPIDS, MN (October 4, 2026).
A 20-year-old Ramsey man is in custody after investigators linked him to two separate incidents involving teenage girls in Anoka County, including an alleged attempted abduction in Ramsey and an alleged sexual assault following another attempted abduction in Coon Rapids.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said both incidents occurred Monday, September 28, several hours apart. The first was reported at approximately 2:05 p.m. near Alpine Drive Northwest and Vicuna Street Northwest in Ramsey. A teenage girl told authorities that a man driving a vehicle attempted to abduct her while she was walking in the area.
Officers searched for the suspect but did not immediately locate him.
A second report came approximately eight hours later, at 10:25 p.m., in Coon Rapids. Authorities said another teenage girl reported that a man in a vehicle chased her near Northdale Boulevard Northwest and Marigold Street Northwest and sexually assaulted her. Investigators came to believe the two incidents were connected.
The investigation expanded beyond the initial responses in the two cities. Authorities said investigators obtained images of the suspected vehicle and used that information to pursue search warrants and identify a suspect. Multiple law-enforcement agencies participated in the investigation before the 20-year-old Ramsey resident was arrested Friday.
The arrest is particularly significant because the alleged incidents occurred in different communities and at substantially different times of day, requiring investigators to determine whether apparently separate reports involved the same person and vehicle.
Authorities have not publicly released the names of the teenage girls, and MinneapoliMedia is not identifying juvenile alleged victims of sexual violence.
The arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. The allegations remain subject to the criminal-justice process, and any formal charges will establish more precisely what prosecutors contend occurred in each incident. As of the latest publicly available information reviewed by MinneapoliMedia, authorities had announced the arrest but complete charging information had not yet been publicly detailed.
A criminal complaint, if filed, could provide additional information about how investigators connected the Ramsey and Coon Rapids reports, what evidence was recovered through the search warrants, whether authorities allege the girls were selected at random and what charges prosecutors believe are supported by the evidence.
For Coon Rapids residents, the case is more than a distant county investigation. One of the two reported encounters occurred within the city, near Northdale Boulevard and Marigold Street, and involved an allegation of sexual assault against a teenage girl.
Authorities credited cooperation among multiple agencies with identifying and apprehending the suspect after the initial Ramsey search did not produce an arrest. The investigation remains active, and additional information could emerge through court filings.
MinneapoliMedia will continue tracking the case for formal charges, court appearances and additional information from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office and prosecutors.
