MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | MNsure Opens 2027 Plan Comparisons Ahead of November 1 Enrollment

Minnesotans can examine premiums and out-of-pocket costs now, with December 15 serving as the deadline for selecting coverage that begins January 1.

SAINT PAUL, MN (October 25, 2026). Minnesotans purchasing their own health insurance can now compare 2027 plans through MNsure before the annual enrollment period begins November 1.

The marketplace announced the preview tools October 19. They allow consumers to examine plans, monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs side by side before making a selection.

MNsure reports 211 medical and dental plans combined for the coming coverage year. Availability varies by location, but the agency says every Minnesota resident will have health-plan choices from at least two insurance companies, with most having three or more. Aspirus is entering the medical-insurance market in northeast Minnesota.

Two deadlines determine when coverage starts

Under MNsure’s published schedule, open enrollment runs November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027.

Consumers seeking coverage effective January 1 must enroll by December 15. Selections made from December 16 through January 15 are scheduled to begin February 1.

The distinction matters for households trying to avoid a January coverage gap. The final enrollment deadline is later than the deadline for coverage beginning on the first day of the year.

Compare the cost beyond the premium

The preview system displays more than the monthly insurance payment. Its side-by-side information includes out-of-pocket costs, helping consumers examine how different options distribute expenses.

MNsure is the marketplace through which eligible Minnesotans can apply for financial assistance on approved plans. Eligibility and the amount of assistance depend on the application; an advertised average should not be treated as a guaranteed household discount.

Consumers can also update financial and family information through their online accounts.

Free assistance is available

MNsure-certified brokers and navigators offer help through in-person appointments, telephone calls and virtual meetings.

Brokers can assist with creating an account, applying, enrolling and choosing a plan. Navigators help with applications and enrollment and specialize in Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare.

Assistance can continue after enrollment, including help understanding notices, reporting account changes and navigating renewal.

Readers can search the MNsure assister directory for local help. The MNsure Contact Center is available at 651-539-2099 or 855-366-7873.

The immediate opportunity is to compare options before enrollment opens, then complete the required selection by the deadline corresponding to the desired coverage start date.
