MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Coon Rapids Adopts 2027 Fees and Approves Next Year’s Sewer-Lining Agreement

The October 20 council actions move next year’s municipal fee schedule beyond the proposal stage while advancing infrastructure work and accepting public-safety grants.

COON RAPIDS, MN (October 25, 2026). Coon Rapids has adopted an ordinance and resolution establishing municipal fees for 2027, completing a step that remained pending when the City Council introduced the proposed ordinance earlier this month.

The adoption occurred at the council’s October 20 meeting, according to the city’s summary published October 22. The same meeting included approval of an agreement for 2027 sanitary sewer lining and acceptance of state traffic-enforcement funding.

Fee proposal moves to adoption

MinneapoliMedia’s earlier report on the October 6 meeting identified the fee ordinance as an introduced proposal. The October 20 action changes that status: the city now reports that both the ordinance and associated resolution have been adopted.

Municipal fees affect particular services and transactions rather than operating as one uniform charge to every household. Coon Rapids’ published fee documents encompass business licensing, building inspections, rental-housing licensing, recreation facilities, engineering, planning, police services and utilities. The amount relevant to a resident or business therefore depends on the service involved.

The city’s meeting summary does not provide a line-by-line comparison of the adopted 2027 amounts. It should not be interpreted as announcing an across-the-board percentage increase.

Residents arranging a rental, applying for a license or planning a project should obtain the applicable adopted rate and effective date from the responsible city department.

Infrastructure and enforcement actions

The council also approved the agreement for next year’s sanitary sewer lining. Separately, it accepted a Minnesota Department of Public Safety traffic-enforcement grant, a state DWI grant and funding from the Coon Creek Watershed District.

The summary confirms those approvals but does not establish construction dates, grant amounts or enforcement schedules.

Residents can review the October 20 meeting summary and request the associated documents through City Hall at 763-755-2880 or mail@coonrapidsmn.gov.
