MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Brooklyn Park’s New Metro micro Service Connects Neighborhood Trips With the Regional Transit Network
The shared-ride service offers accessible minibuses within a defined service area, with telephone booking available alongside its app.
BROOKLYN PARK, MN (October 27, 2026). Brooklyn Park residents have a new option for reaching destinations within part of the city and connecting with regional buses: Metro micro, the on-demand transit service that began operating locally October 1.
The service uses shared minibuses rather than a conventional route with a published sequence of stops. Riders request a pickup and destination within the service zone, and the vehicle may collect or drop off other passengers along the way.
Where the Service Operates
Metro Transit describes the Brooklyn Park zone as roughly bounded by Highway 610 and Noble Parkway on the east, 67th Avenue North on the south, Jefferson Highway and Highway 169 on the west, and Rush Creek Regional Trail on the north.
Because those are approximate boundaries, residents should check an exact address against the service map before planning a trip.
The curb-to-curb service uses ADA-accessible minibuses. Connections include Starlite Transit Center, Noble Park & Ride and other local or express bus routes within the zone. Metro Transit also provides Brooklyn Park information sheets in English, Hmong, Somali and Spanish.
Booking and Pickup
Riders can request a trip through the Metro micro app or by calling 651-602-1170. Reservations are made on demand; the service does not offer advance scheduling for a future trip.
The booking process asks for the pickup and destination addresses, number of passengers and any needed mobility-device space. Both ends of the trip must be inside the service area.
Published operating hours are 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. weekends, with holiday schedules potentially differing. Riders receive an approaching-vehicle notification, and the driver’s pickup waiting period is two minutes.
What Riders Pay
For adults ages 13 through 64, the fare is $2.50 outside rush hours and $3.25 during rush hours. Rush pricing applies weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6:30 p.m.
Transit Assistance Program participants and eligible riders with disabilities pay $1. Youth, senior and Medicare fares depend on the time of travel. Transfers between Metro micro, local buses and METRO lines are valid for 2½ hours.
The Metro micro booking app does not collect fares. Payment options include cash, an eligible Go-To card or the separate Metro Transit app. Riders using a smartphone should account for that distinction before boarding.
The Metro micro website provides service maps, fare information and booking instructions.
