A person believed to be lying in the road was fatally struck by a driver in Blaine early Tuesday morning.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says the pedestrian crash happened just after 4:30 a.m. near 109th Avenue NE and Central Avenue, with a 911 caller reporting that they were in the vehicle that may have struck the person.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures on the injured man and a LifeLink helicopter was called to take the man to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A short time later, the motor vehicle suspected of hitting the male was located along with the adult male driver. The driver is cooperating with the investigation," the sheriff's office said.
The victim's identity and cause of death will be released in the coming days.
The investigation remains active.
