Police say one person was shot Friday night at the YMCA in Coon Rapids.

According to the Coon Rapids Police Department, officers responded to a report of gunfire just before 8 p.m. at 8950 Springbrook Drive. A male victim was found shot and was brought to a nearby hospital.

Authorities have not released any information regarding the victim’s condition.

Deontae Depratto, 12, said he and a friend were sitting on the steps making a video when they heard gunshots.

“We heard gunshots. Boom, boom, boom, boom. My friend ran straight, I ran upstairs and that’s all,” Deontae said.

He went on to say that a manager told guests to duck and take shelter in a yoga room until police arrived.

Adrian Mustyatsa, 15, was playing basketball when he saw people “running everywhere.”

“One guy is on the phone with 911 and we were running the opposite direction to whatever door we could find to get there,” Adrian said. “So I was running and I was praying to God the whole time.”

Police do not believe the shooting was random. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Coon Rapids Police Department at 763-427-1212.
