Minnesota Senate Passes Sen. John Hoffman’s Omnibus Human Services Supplemental Budget Bill

[ST. PAUL, Minn.] – In a bipartisan vote of 53 to 13, the Minnesota Senate passed the Omnibus Human Services budget bill (S.F. 5335) Tuesday. The budget funds essential services that will help better serve Minnesotans who need them according to chief author, Sen. John Hoffman (DFL-Champlin), who chairs the Senate Human Services Committee.

“The work of our Human Services Committee is about making sure people have the care and support they need to live full lives, and this bill will help make that a reality for more Minnesotans,” said Sen. Hoffman. “We are making smart investments to better support people who receive essential care and to better support the caregivers themselves. This bipartisan bill supports those who need it most.”

The Omnibus Human Services budget appropriates approximately $42.1 million in fiscal year 2024/25, and an additional $14.86 million in 2026/27, and provides targeted relief to communities, caregivers, and people who access services. Examples of this directed spending include families in rural Minnesota living with someone with autism, seniors with complex mental health needs, and people moving from congregate care settings back to home.
