Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe spoke recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about recent job openings at city hall.
Poppe reported the city had interviewed several candidates for the open city clerk position, and hoped to make an offer to whom staff had selected by the end of August. He also said the process had brought forward another candidate whom city staff thought may be a good fit for another role at city hall.
Poppe also talked about the future of the fire chief position.
“We’ve been investigating different fire (staffing) models,” said Poppe. “We think, probably, having a full-time chief is the answer.”
Poppe also gave an update on another opening on city council after the resignation of Alicia Vickerman.
“It’s really sad to see Councilmember Vickerman go,” he said. “We’ve been collecting letters of interest, and we’ll be appointing (a council member to fill the remainder of the term, which is this year) at the next council meeting.”
