The primary election, but the fate of organized trash hauling into the voters hands, and they city of Anoka has asked for a “best and final” contract offer should the voters answer “yes” in November. It happened on Aug. 19 as the City Council voted to reject a contract given to them on Aug. 1 and set a special meeting on Aug. 26 to be presented with a new one.
“People want to understand the details of what they would be voting on: what would that look like?” Council member Erik Skogquist said. “We want to get as much information available to the public so that they can make an informed choice. … My understanding is (Mounds View) got some very competitive bids and offers that reduce prices for a lot of people. It’s worth us at least pursuing this.”
