Washington County Honored with GFOA's Triple Crown Awards For Financial Excellence
Washington County's dedication to transparent financial practices has once again been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the US & Canada.
Having maintained a streak of high-quality financial reporting that spans over three decades, the county was bestowed with the Triple Crown award on August 27, according to Washington County, Minnesota.
Bringing home the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 38th consecutive year, the county's 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) has been recognized for its exceptional clarity and adherence to high standards.
As reported by Washington County, this accolade holds significant weight when it comes to the assessment of the county's fiscal health by bond rating agencies.
Joining the ACFR in this year's honoree list is the 2022 Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR), which, designed to demystify financial data for the average resident, scooped up its fifth consecutive award, featuring easy-to-understand charts and graphs.
Not resting on its laurels, the county also scored big with the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2024 budget. With this being the 27th consecutive accolade of its kind, the budget's excellence in serving as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communication device is undisputed. "This award recognizes our long-term dedication to high standards in financial stewardship," the county stated, highlighting the efforts that go into crafting a budget that is peer-reviewed and must satisfy 14 mandatory criteria to qualify.
