Police asked the community to help them find any camera or doorbell footage in the area around campus between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

St. Peter police arrested an 18-year-old after the armed carjacking of a Gustavus Adolphus College student early Saturday morning.

The police department received a call on Saturday morning about a carjacker wielding a "rifle-style" gun stealing a black 2011 Buick Lacrosse at around 2:45 a.m. on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus.

Police asked the community to help them find any camera or doorbell footage around campus between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Gustavus Dean of Students Charlie Potts sent an email update to students around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, announcing the 18-year-old suspect had been arrested.

"Once again, we are thankful that the victim of this crime was physically unharmed and is receiving support from appropriate resources," Potts wrote.

"Law enforcement believes this was an isolated incident and indicates that there is no ongoing threat to the Gustavus community."
