Citing Anti-Racism AH Board Member Opposes Arts Funding

Anoka-Hennepin Board Member Matt Audette voiced opposition over arts funds for Andover High School due to its state funding source. The $41,000 would come from a Joint Powers Agreement with the Minnesota Department of Education and its Culturally Responsive Arts Education Arts Equity Audit.

“As I’ve said numerous times during my tenure, the aims of these kinds of programs are not what they seem,” Audette said. “… Some of the most divisive programs come from the state Department of Education. Anti-racism, which is a Kendi-Angelonian definition of the term, is a divisive ideology, it has no place in our schools. I won’t support this effort.”
