The Coon Rapids Sustainability Commission is inviting residents to share their green havens as part of the annual Sustainable Garden Tour!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., when garden enthusiasts from across Coon Rapids will have the opportunity to explore inspiring local landscapes. This popular event highlights the beauty and ecological benefits of sustainable gardening practices right here in our community.

The Sustainable Garden Tour showcases a variety of approaches to eco-conscious gardening, featuring spaces that prioritize:

• Native Plants: Gardens that incorporate plants indigenous to the region, providing essential habitat and food sources for local wildlife.
• Pollinator-Friendly Plants: Gardens designed to attract and support bees, butterflies, and other crucial pollinators through specific plant choices and practices.

The Coon Rapids Sustainability Commission is currently seeking homeowners who would like their gardens to be considered as part of the 2025 tour. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire others in the community and share your passion for sustainable gardening practices.

Interested gardeners are encouraged to complete the online application or visit the City of Coon Rapids website for a copy of the application. The deadline to submit your application is Sunday, June 15, 2025.

Please note that signing up does not guarantee selection as a tour stop. Members of the Sustainability Commission will review all applications, and final decisions regarding the tour locations will be made in late June. All participating homeowners will be notified prior to the event in July.

The locations of the featured gardens for the 2025 Sustainable Garden Tour will be officially announced in early July, closer to the event date. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to the City of Coon Rapids website and local news outlets for the tour map and participating addresses.
