Golden Valley Church Offers ‘Blessings Box’ For Families In Need

A church in Golden Valley is making it easy for neighbors to get a little extra help.

Valley of Peace Lutheran Church is offering a so-called “Blessings Box” outside its front door.

It’s similar to a Little Free Library, where readers can pick up or donate a book in a public box.

However, instead of books, the yellow-painted “Blessings Box” has snacks and nonperishable meal kits.

Valley of Peace Lutheran Church is offering a so-called “Blessings Box” outside its front door. It’s like a Little Free Library, but instead of books, it offers free food and health and beauty products.

It also houses health and beauty products such as toothbrushes and deodorant, and other essentials like fresh socks or a washcloth.

“We do socks, and deodorant and food and, it’s been just really cool to watch people both come and take and people come and leave,” said Sally Herron, office administrator at Valley of Peace.

The church in-part built the box to help out kids at neighborhood schools that may need a little something extra for a meal, Herron said.

“We know because we keep checking that things get taken, and that’s best,” Herron said.

Everything in the box is available for free and can be taken anonymously.

The church is located at 4735 Bassett Creek Dr, Golden Valley.
