MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Little Canada Driver Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run After Investigators Trace Damaged SUV

LITTLE CANADA, MN (September 23, 2026). A 36-year-old Little Canada man has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide after prosecutors alleged that he struck and killed a pedestrian, left the scene and continued through a nearby McDonald’s drive-through.

Alex Ray Kisch faces up to 10 years in prison and a possible $20,000 fine in connection with the September 20 death. The charge is an allegation, and Kisch is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Authorities were called at approximately 2:25 a.m. to Viking Drive near Lillehei Plaza, where officers found the victim lying near the road. Groceries and pieces of a damaged vehicle were scattered across the traffic lanes. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that mirror fragments and other vehicle parts recovered from the roadway were consistent with a Nissan Rogue. Roughly two hours later, a deputy found a damaged 2023 Nissan Rogue in a parking garage near the collision scene.

The criminal complaint says the SUV had fresh passenger-side damage, a broken mirror and biological evidence on portions of the vehicle. Investigators also found that a missing body clip matched a part recovered at the crash site.

Apartment surveillance reportedly showed Kisch leaving in the undamaged vehicle at 2:01 a.m. and returning about 10 minutes later with its passenger-side mirror hanging down. McDonald’s surveillance allegedly showed the damaged vehicle entering the restaurant’s drive-through shortly after the collision.

An autopsy documented extensive injuries, including skull, spinal and rib fractures. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner attributed the victim’s death to injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police obtained a search warrant for Kisch’s apartment and collected a blood sample at Regions Hospital. The complaint says officers detected the odor of alcohol, but the publicly reported charge did not disclose laboratory test results.
