COON RAPIDS, MN (September 23, 2026). A proposal to construct 35 townhomes in Coon Rapids will receive a public hearing before the city’s Planning Commission next month, opening the formal municipal review of a potentially significant addition to the city’s housing supply.

According to a public-hearing notice issued by the City of Coon Rapids, CityDeskStudio is seeking site-plan approval for the development at 1354 121st Avenue NW. The property is identified by Anoka County parcel number 11-31-24-31-0001.

The proposal is being reviewed as city planning case 26-0030. The notice establishes that the project involves a new 35-unit townhome development, although detailed information about unit sizes, anticipated prices, construction costs and affordability requirements was not included in the publicly available notice.

The Planning Commission hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 15, in the Coon Rapids City Center Council Chambers at 11155 Robinson Drive NW. Commissioners are expected to examine whether the proposed site plan satisfies the city’s zoning, access, parking, drainage and development standards.

The hearing will provide nearby residents with an opportunity to comment before the project advances further through the city’s approval process. Planning Commission recommendations or decisions can also carry conditions governing landscaping, traffic circulation, stormwater management and the project’s relationship with adjoining properties.

The development merits attention because townhomes can add a housing option between apartment living and detached single-family ownership. Whether the proposed units would expand attainable housing opportunities in Coon Rapids will depend on details that have not yet been disclosed.
