MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Minnesota Opens Election Reporting Form for Intimidation and Deceptive Information

Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office is accepting reports involving voters, people assisting them and election officials during the general-election voting period.

SAINT PAUL, MN (October 21, 2026). Minnesota residents have a new online channel for reporting election intimidation and deceptive election information as voting continues before November 3.

Attorney General Keith Ellison announced the Election Report Form October 20. His office is asking residents to report incidents occurring between September 18, when general-election voting began, and Election Day.

The announcement identifies threats, violence, harm and threatened job loss as examples of intimidation that could affect whether someone registers, votes or supports a particular candidate. It also covers intimidation directed at election officials and people helping others participate.

Reports can also concern deepfakes or other deceptive technology and information intended to influence an election.

For incidents at a polling place, the office urges residents to notify an election judge and police immediately, in addition to submitting a report. The attorney general’s office said it will investigate potential Minnesota-law violations and may refer complaints to other state entities.

The office’s accompanying voting-rights guidance explains protections for voters traveling to and from polling places and provides links for checking registration, locating polling places and reviewing ballot information.

It also explains that Minnesota permits registration when casting an early ballot and at the polling place on Election Day. Residents who missed advance registration should consult those instructions and the applicable documentation requirements.

Residents can access the Election Report Form through the attorney general’s website.

Routine voting and election-administration questions should go to the Secretary of State’s office at 877-600-8683, by text at 651-217-3862, or by email at secretary.state@state.mn.us.
