MINNEAPOLIMEDIA SPORTS | Edwards Scores 45 in Timberwolves’ Opening Win as Vikings Get Encouraging Injury Update
Minnesota defeated Miami 131–106 on October 21, while four injured Vikings offensive players participated fully in Wednesday’s practice.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (October 21, 2026). Anthony Edwards scored 45 points as Minnesota opened its NBA season with a 131–106 victory at Miami on Wednesday. The Vikings also received encouraging injury news during practice ahead of Sunday’s Indianapolis game.
Timberwolves: Edwards and Ball Lead Opening-Night Win
Edwards added 10 rebounds and made nine of 17 three-point attempts. LaMelo Ball contributed 21 points and six assists in his Minnesota debut.
The two guards combined for 66 points and 14 of Minnesota’s 21 three-pointers. Edwards finished 16-for-29 from the field before coach Chris Finch removed him with approximately four minutes remaining.
The result gave Minnesota a 1–0 start and spoiled Giannis Antetokounmpo’s regular-season debut with Miami.
Vikings: Full Participation for Four Offensive Players
The Vikings returned from their Week 6 bye with receiver Jordan Addison, tackle Christian Darrisaw, tight end T.J. Hockenson and running back Jordan Mason are listed as full participants in Wednesday’s practice.
Addison was listed with a hamstring injury, Darrisaw and Hockenson with concussions, and Mason with a thumb injury. Darrisaw and Hockenson still needed to complete concussion clearance, including evaluation of their response to practice. Mason remained on injured reserve with a designation to return and required activation before playing.
Justin Jefferson, Brian O’Neill and James Pierre were limited participants because of ankle, knee and foot injuries, respectively. Game-status designations were scheduled for Friday, ahead of Sunday’s noon Central time home game against Indianapolis.
Minnesota’s Other Five Franchises
The Wild had no game Wednesday, which fell between their Edmonton and Calgary road dates.
For Minnesota United, the Twins, Lynx and Frost, this report’s verification did not establish an October 21 game result or substantive new team announcement.
