MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Coon Rapids Reports Nearly $29.7 Million in Third-Quarter Building Activity

The city’s October economic report documents commercial investment, remodeling and development projects across several business districts.

COON RAPIDS, MN (October 22, 2026). Coon Rapids recorded nearly $29.7 million in building-permit valuation during the third quarter of 2026, according to the city’s October economic development report, released October 16.

The city issued 2,080 permits, compared with 2,132 during the same quarter last year. Permit valuation declined from approximately $30.9 million.

The largest listed projects included a roughly $2.06 million Costco fuel-pump island replacement, a $1.27 million rooftop solar installation at HOM Furniture and a $1.07 million interior expansion for Omnetics Connector. A new DSW store’s interior remodeling carried a $940,000 valuation.

The figures describe permitted construction value. They do not establish that every project has been completed or that the listed amounts represent final construction spending.

The report also identifies approved development plans, including a 147,000-square-foot speculative industrial building near Norway Street, a 17,920-square-foot Vermak Windows manufacturing facility on Holly Street and a TopLine Credit Union branch in the Riverdale commercial area.

Other listed business activity includes 7 Brew Coffee, a Crooked Lake Library remodeling project and the conversion of three Holiday gas stations to Circle K.

For residents following changes in neighborhood shopping and employment areas, the report provides a consolidated record of projects at different stages. Site-plan approval, a building permit and an operating business represent separate steps in that process.

The October report is available through the city’s website.
