MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Thousands Evacuated From Saint Paul's Union Depot After Fight Disrupts Halal Community Market

Police say no shots were fired and no injuries were reported after a disturbance interrupted an event featuring more than 100 local businesses.

SAINT PAUL, MN (November 2, 2026).

A community market at Saint Paul's Union Depot ended abruptly Saturday night after a fight prompted an evacuation involving thousands of attendees and a police response to reports of possible gunfire.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. October 31 during the Bundal Halal Fall Market, a private ticketed gathering that organizers said brought together more than 100 local businesses.

According to information reported by FOX 9, officers responding to the disturbance found no evidence that shots had been fired. Saint Paul police said no shooting occurred, no injuries were reported and no arrests had been made in connection with the incident as of the initial report.

The disturbance forced organizers to end the market approximately two hours earlier than scheduled.

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher raised the possibility of gang involvement while livestreaming his response, but Saint Paul police, the agency leading the investigation, had not confirmed any gang connection.

That distinction is important. Speculation about the circumstances surrounding a public disturbance should not be treated as an established investigative finding.

The market was intended to bring residents and businesses together for a community shopping experience. Its sudden interruption affected vendors who had invested time, merchandise and resources into participating, as well as attendees who had come to support local enterprises.

Organizers subsequently issued a statement acknowledging the concern caused by the incident and reaffirming their commitment to providing a safe community environment.

They also said they were cooperating with police and would share further information as appropriate.

The incident raises practical questions about crowd management, emergency communications and security planning for large gatherings in public transportation facilities. However, no official determination of a security failure has been established.

As the investigation continues, the immediate confirmed facts remain that a fight occurred, a large evacuation followed and police found no evidence of gunfire or injuries.

Further reporting will be needed to establish what triggered the disturbance and whether any additional enforcement or safety measures will follow.
