Anoka-Hennepin closed its season with a fourth-place finish at the state adapted PI floor hockey tournament.
The Mustangs opened the state tournament with a 4-3 quarterfinal win over Rochester, before falling to eventual champion Brainerd 9-1 in the semifinals. Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound-Westonka defeated the Mustangs 5-2 in the third-place game.
“(We) played well this season,” Anoka-Hennepin coach Matt Anderson said. “We had an exciting one-goal win in the quarterfinals where the team played smart hockey. This year’s team was experienced with three seniors and most of the other players returning from last year. They were willing to play any position that was needed. The Mustangs also had good poise and didn’t get rattled when a game got tough.”
