Woman Who Posted The Video Of George Floyd's Murder Shares Tribute

On Memorial Day 2025, Frazier again told the world not to forget, posting a tribute to the man at the center of it all.

MINNEAPOLIS — In the waning hours of Memorial Day 2020, it wasn't yet clear how the events unfolding on the corner of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue would alter the course of the future.

But the weight of that moment wasn't lost on Darnella Frazier, who, in the face of injustice, recorded what would become one of the most infamous and most-watched videos in recent history.

On Memorial Day 2025, Frazier again told the world not to forget, posting a tribute to the man at the center of it all.

"George Floyd we did not forget about what happened to you," she wrote in an Instagram post. "We crowded the streets behind you. We did not forget your cry's [sic]. We marched and demanded justice for you. We did not forget how your life was taken from you. We remember it all.

"At least I do."

Frazier, who was just 17 at the time of Floyd's murder, recorded the 10-minute-long video showing former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck, ultimately killing him. Marking the first year after Floyd's murder, Frazier posted to her social media, saying the event made her "realize how dangerous it is to be Black in America."

"It changed me. It changed how I viewed life," she wrote.

In her post this year, Frazier promised to "never be silent."

"I sometimes catch myself feeling guilty for trying to forget and block it all out, because it's such a traumatic experience in my life. But truthfully, I could never forget about you. Your name still Echoes and I'll never be silent."
