City Of Anoka Offering Free Sandbags For Residents To Prepare For Floods

According to NORR (National Weather Service), the Rum River is predicted to crest Wednesday, April 19 in the evening, at a stage level of 10.6'. The flood stage in Anoka is 8' and impacts will begin in Anoka when the river level reaches 7'.

The city of Anoka will deliver bags and sand to residents.

The city of Anoka is aware of the quickly rising river level and the forecasted flood prediction crest of 15.5 feet on Tuesday, April 18, according to the Champlin bridge gauge.

To prepare affected river properties within Anoka, the city is making available 50 bags and approximately three yards of sand (per property) for sandbagging, according to a press release from the city.

If your property is affected, Anoka’s Public Services crews delivered and dump sand and bags on your driveway Saturday.

Trails and parks along the river impacted by flood waters are closed and use is not advised. Stay clear of flooded areas.

The city of Anoka Public Services and Emergency Management teams are monitoring flood concerns.
