Crews have repaired a sinkhole that swallowed a car in a Brooklyn Park residential area this week.
It happened Friday at the intersection of 79th Avenue, Shingle Creek Drive and Douglas Drive, where a woman driving a sedan noticed her car was sinking when she was pulled up to a stop sign.
The driver, Josie Russell, told WCCO that she then saw "water flooding in from the bottom and I got really scared," with a quick-thinking neighbor helping her escape from the car as it sank.
"As soon as I got out, I came on the grass and I just watched my car kinda swallow away," she told the station, with a bystander saying that watching the car sink reminded them of the Titanic.
According to KSTP, officials say the sinkhole formed due to a water main break, which also disrupted water service in the neighborhood.
A post on Brooklyn Park Highlights, a Facebook community group, indicates the sinkhole was repaired and the intersection ready for traffic on Saturday morning:
