The game originally scheduled for late December was postponed when Mankato West had a bag of sticks stolen from the team bus.
A frustrating and disappointing weekend in December has turned into a pretty cool opportunity for the Mankato West boys hockey team thanks to the Minnesota Wild.
In late December, Mankato West was set to play Anoka during a tournament in Duluth, Minn., but a bag containing dozens of hockey sticks was stolen from the team bus, so the Scarlets were unable to play the game, forcing it to be postponed to a later date.
That later date is Monday, and the disappointing weekend has turned into a chance for Anoka and Mankato West to play a game in an NHL arena. The Wild announced Friday the game has been rescheduled at their home arena, Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., and the game will include many of its typical game day offerings like their public address announcer, their national anthem singer and the team mascot Nordy.
On top of that, the neutral-site game will be free and open to the public, so it's also a cool opportunity for the community to support the teams and take in a game at the X.
You can bring the family and catch Mankato West and Anoka drop the puck at 7 p.m. Monday.
