SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. for the 5th year in a row and local owners of a pickleball business are taking advantage of its popularity to raise money for a good cause.
Dropshot Pickleball in Shakopee is hosting a fundraising event for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund on Saturday, Jan. 20. The double-elimination tournament features three levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced) with 16 doubles teams per level.
They expect 100 participants and to raise $15,000.
The mission of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund is to assist and support the cancer community in Minnesota by funding research, prevention, treatment and other programs relating to the cancer community's principal needs.
