Coon Rapids just upped its green game with a new trailer dedicated to recycling those pesky items that don't fit your standard blue bin. The local Recycling Center is expanding its repertoire to include the likes of makeup, dental floss, and even those old American flags you've got stashed away.
"We're waiting for signage to come so it's easier identified," said Colleen Sinclair, Recycling Center Coordinator. Residents of Coon Rapids, there's no excuse not to do your part now, with the center taking offbeat recyclables that usually end up in the trash. "The popular ones we were thinking is the makeup, the plastic pouches, the juice pouches, the personal care items, so the deodorants, the toothpastes, dental floss," Sinclair told Coon Rapids official website.

While you can offload any brand of makeup or pouch, Sinclair points out, "For example, Brita filters will only accept Brita filters." Apparently, exclusivity isn't just for the nightclubs, folks.
The recycling effort has also hit a slam dunk with their sneaker recycling scheme. "Our tennis shoe program has gone crazy since we've had it in the newsletter," Sinclair boasted, speaking to the obvious love affair between Coon Rapidians, and a greener Earth. The program sends out "four, or five bags of shoes a week that come in," she added.
And because modern commerce never sleeps, corporate sponsorships shake things up regularly; ergo, what you can drop off this week might not cut it the next. Best keep tabs on the Recycling Center website for the latest in disposal dos and don'ts.
