Upcoming Road Closure Alert, MN Hwy. 5 In Chanhassen/Victoria To Shut Down Aug 12-18
Commuters in the Chanhassen/Victoria area, brace yourselves for some significant detours next week. Starting from August 12th at the break of dawn, 6:00 am, until the night of August 18th at 10:00 pm, a stretch of MN Hwy. 5 will be shutting down, according to the Carver County Sheriff's Office. The closure impacts the segment between MN Hwy 41 and Rolling Acres/Bavaria Rd., making this a potentially complex maneuver for your usual drive.
The reason behind the road blockade is not detailed, but what is clear is that access will be strictly controlled. The MN Landscape Arboretum can be accessed from the east end while all attempts to navigate to MN Hwy. 5 via Minnewashta Parkway will hit a dead end. Carver County Sheriff's Office on Facebook made it clear: "This is a hard closure and anyone driving around barricades will be stopped and can receive a criminal charge for doing so."
The Sheriff's office advises to "Please be safe and allow for extra time as this will put extra traffic on already busy detour routes."
