Coon Rapids Partners With MnDOT For Innovative Bike Lane Project To Enhance Pedestrian And Cyclist Safety
In a bid to foster a safer environment for both pedestrians and cyclists, Coon Rapids is collaborating with Sand Creek Elementary and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) on a bike lane demonstration project. According to Coon Rapids Minnesota, this new project serves as a component of the developing City's Active Transportation Plan, which is being funded through a MnDOT grant.
Residents can anticipate the appearance of new on-street bike lanes on 121st Avenue, spanning from Unity Street to Foley Boulevard, as per Coon Rapids Minnesota. As part of the work, newly painted bump outs and medians, complemented by flexible posts, will be installed at Olive Street and Sycamore Street, and likewise, at Norway Street. Unexpectedly, but in tune with the safety theme, a parking lane will be kept on both sides of the street from Unity Street to Olive Street.
Despite the potential inconvenience during the construction phase, getting to destinations by bike on 121st Avenue is anticipated to become notably safer for Coon Rapids' growing number of cyclists, according to the city's plans.
