The skyline in Coon Rapids is getting a significant update, as crews work this Wednesday morning to elevate a one-million-gallon water tank atop the new water tower near Foley Blvd. and Coon Rapids Blvd. The project, which began around 7:30 a.m., involves the use of two dozen steel cables to lift the imposing structure skywards, as reported by the {City of Coon Rapids, MN} .
The city of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, delivered an update via its Facebook page, detailing the process in which excess cable is methodically burned off every few feet as the tank ascends. This unique operation is part of the final stages before the completion of the water tower construction which is slated for a mid-November finish.
