Coon Rapids, MN – The city of Coon Rapids is set to ignite the spirit of Independence Day with its highly anticipated annual 4th of July Celebration, taking place at the Boulevard Plaza (11002 Crooked Lake Blvd.) from Wednesday, July 2nd, through Friday, July 4th, 2025. This multi-day event promises a vibrant array of activities for all ages, culminating in what has been voted a "Top Fireworks Show in Minnesota."
Organized through the collaborative efforts of the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club, the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation, and the Coon Rapids Fire Department Social Club, the celebration is a testament to community spirit and a beloved tradition for residents and visitors alike.
A Packed Schedule of Patriotic Fun:
The festivities officially kick off on Wednesday, July 2nd, with a full day of activities. The Carnival Midway will be open from noon to 10 p.m., offering thrilling rides and games. Food trucks will be serving up a variety of delicious treats, alongside the Lions Tent and Pull Tabs, also available from noon to 10 p.m.
A highlight of the opening day will be the Coon Rapids 4th of July Parade, stepping off at 6 p.m. The parade route will traverse from 111th Avenue and Mississippi Boulevard, proceeding to Direct River Drive, then to Flora Street, and concluding at 109th Lane. Spectators are advised to note no parking zones near the route from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For those unable to attend in person, the parade will be broadcast live on CTN Channel 859 (on Xfinity) and YouTube. Wednesday also features Firefighter Bingo from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and live music by "Vitamin J" from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. A Coon Rapids High School All Class Reunion is also scheduled for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Thursday, July 3rd, continues the excitement with the Carnival Midway and food trucks running from noon to 10 p.m. Firefighter Bingo will be available from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Car Show is slated for 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., with a $5 gate fee benefiting the ACBC Food Shelf; the first 100 cars receive a T-shirt. Live music will be provided by "Arena" from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the Coon Rapids Police Association will host a Bags Tournament starting at 5 p.m. (registration required, $60/team, benefiting Shop with a Cop).
The grand finale on Friday, July 4th, begins bright and early with the Firecracker 5K at 8 a.m., followed by the free Kids Sparkler Dash at 9:15 a.m. Registration for the 5K can be done online at runcr.org/register, with day-of registration costing $55. The Carnival Midway will operate from noon to 7:30 p.m. on the 4th, with all rides and games closing promptly at 7:30 p.m. Food trucks, the Lions Tent, and Pull Tabs will remain open until 10 p.m. A Public Safety Meet & Greet is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Firefighter Bingo will run from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. "Rockin' Hollywoods" will take the stage for live music from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., leading up to the much-anticipated fireworks display at 10 p.m. The city recommends viewing the spectacular show from the grounds of the Coon Rapids Ice Center or Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and be patient with parking due to the large crowds expected.
Unlimited ride wristbands for the carnival are available for $30 per person for a 5-hour ride window. Individual tickets are also available.
