Brooklyn Park, Osseo, And Maple Grove Residents Invited To Election Candidates Forums

The Brooklyn Park/Osseo/Maple Grove League of Women Voters is setting the stage for active civic engagement this fall, organizing candidate forums ahead of the general election.

In an effort to acquaint voters with the candidates for the upcoming Brooklyn Park City Council and Osseo School Board elections, these events have been scheduled to take place at the City Hall on 5200 85th Avenue.

Citizens interested in the governance of Brooklyn Park will have the chance to see their City Council candidates on Tuesday, October 22, at 6:30 PM, where the much-anticipated forum will offer a platform for discussions pertinent to the community's future.

In a similar spirit of community involvement, the Osseo School Board Candidate Forum is penciled in for Thursday, October 24, at 6:30 PM, located at the same venue, enlightening parents and stakeholders on educational policies and potential changes on the horizon.

For those eager to contribute to the discourse, the League is accepting questions via email until noon the day before each forum.

Inquiries can be submitted to: lwvbpomg@lwvmn.org, with a specific request to denote the forum topic in the subject line.

According to the bulletin released by Brooklyn Park's government website, "By League of Women Voters policy, the identity of the person asking the question is confidential."

At the event itself, attendees will be welcome to submit their queries in writing, abiding by the forum rules set forth by the hosting organization. The League of Women Voters is recognized as a nonpartisan nonprofit, championing active government participation and public policy education and advocacy, while remaining unbiased in terms of political affiliations - it is a body that neither opposes nor endorses political candidates or parties. With doors wide open for membership to anyone interested, the League stands as a beacon for democratic engagement and a healthier dialogue within the polity.
