Andover Fall Play Visits Mythical Maine
A mythical town serves as the backdrop for a series of short plays featuring love, loss and laughs in Andover High School Theatre’s fall production “Almost, Maine” Nov. 8-10 and Nov. 15-17.
“‘Almost, Maine’ was our choice for this fall because it’s a vignette-style play, and so it offers lots of opportunities for actors,” director Ann Leaf-Johnson said. “Each scene is a moment between a couple where they explore a different part of a relationship. Some are just meeting, some are new love, some are friends looking for more, some loves are coming to an end. This is a story that will resonate with the audience in many different ways — there are lots of moments where people will recognize themselves in what they see on stage. The actors have enjoyed working on a realistic contemporary play that offers opportunities for laughter and tears, fears and joys. It is the best sort of magical realism that feels entirely true even when moments of magic happen in life.”
