Coon Rapids Police Offers Insightful Community Academy For Local Residents To Learn And Engage

Coon Rapids Police Department is opening its doors to community members eager to learn about law enforcement through its Community Police Academy starting January 14. According to the official announcement, registration for the free, seven-week program is now open. The program will take place on Tuesday evenings, from 6-9 p.m., allowing residents to engage in informative sessions with local officers and gain insights into the inner workings of the department.

The initiative aims to foster understanding and dialogue between the police and the community they serve. Throughout the program, participants will have the chance to see firsthand how the department functions, engage in K9 and DUI demonstrations and even accompany officers during patrol in ride-alongs. Moreover, those enrolled will learn about a breadth of topics ranging from de-escalation strategies, and decision-making, to the tools and technology used in modern law enforcement, as reported by the City of Coon Rapids .
