Coon Rapids To Sparkle With Holiday Spirit At Tree Lighting Festival And Fireworks Display
This weekend, Coon Rapids is set to bring in the holiday cheer with its Tree Lighting Festival. The city's local government has announced the festivities will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 3:30 pm to 6 pm at Boulevard Plaza, and the event is open to all without charge. Touted as a harbinger of festive fun, the event promises community gathering around the keystones of holiday celebrations – a tree lighting complemented by fireworks at the day's close.
Family-friendly activities are at the heart of the festival. The lineup features opportunities for photos with Santa, who is slated to arrive at 4 pm. To capture the memories, a photographer will be on hand to take pictures, which will be made available on the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation Facebook page by Dec. 20, although attendees are also welcome to take their own shots. Alongside Santa snaps, participants can look forward to live music, cocoa and cookies, fire pits to stave off the December chill, ornament crafting care of Nest to Threads Boutique Marketplace, and writing letters to Santa.
The announcement by the City of Coon Rapids noted that the festival will serve as a collection point for non-perishable food and monetary donations. Contributions gathered will be directed towards the Coon Rapids High School food shelf and the Cardinal Compassion Fund, bolstering support for families in need during this time.
