Minneapolis Resident Charged In Fatal High-Speed Crash That Killed Two Women

A tragic high-speed crash in Minneapolis has claimed the lives of two women and inflicted injuries on two others, authorities reported. Teniki Steward, a 38-year-old Minneapolis resident, is currently facing serious charges for her alleged involvement in the deadly incident.

Per the details released by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office and echoed in reports by Patch and FOX9, Steward is accused of operating a Buick Enclave at dangerously high speeds, running through multiple red lights before the fatal crash at the intersection of Emerson Avenue North and 26th Avenue North. She first narrowly avoided a crash at the junction of Emerson Avenue North and Broadway Avenue North.

The tragic outcome from the event resulted in the death of both occupants in the struck vehicle, a Ford Explorer, identified as 53-year-old Ester Jean Fulks and 57-year-old Rose Elaine Reece, according to the charges. The collision also caused injury to a pedestrian, a 17-year-old boy waiting for a school bus, and the passenger in Steward's vehicle while Steward herself sustained injuries in the crash.

Details surrounding the aftermath of this incident reveal Steward's prior license revocation in November 2023 due to lack of insurance proof and at the time of the crash, she was without a valid driver's license, this information comes from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, cited by FOX9. On the matter, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty stated, "Our office has been in close communication with the Minneapolis Police Department regarding this case, which was submitted to our office on Thursday and charged Friday,” and lamented the entire incident as "another completely avoidable incident of a car being driven irresponsibly with disastrous consequences," in a statement obtained by Patch.

Steward, who is now being held in custody, faces up to 10 years in prison and could be fined up to $20,000 per count should she be found guilty of the two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and two counts of criminal vehicular operation lodged against her. As for the injured victims, their current medical condition remains undisclosed.
