Coon Rapids increases storm water rates 40%

Stormwater utility rates for Coon Rapids residential customers will increase 40% in 2025. The Coon Rapids City Council Dec. 17 unanimously approved a new fee schedule, which has a 50% jump in rates for most non-residential users.

Finance Director Ashley Hansen said that the stormwater fund is self-supporting with no property tax revenue. It pays for ongoing operations and maintenance of the system including salaries and benefits, as well as debt for significant maintenance and life-cycle infrastructure replacement.
