COON RAPIDS, MN — July 9, 2025 — Jordan Dupree Collins Sr. appeared in Anoka County District Court this morning following his arrest in connection with the tragic death of his 16-year-old son, Manny Collins. The Anoka County Attorney’s Office has formally charged Collins with one count of second-degree murder.
The case, which began as a missing child investigation, has deeply affected the Columbia Heights community and sparked an intensive multi-agency search. Manny was first reported missing in early July. Authorities later confirmed his death, leading to the arrest and charging of his father.
In a public statement, Columbia Heights Police Department Deputy Chief Erik Johnston expressed profound sorrow over the loss of young Manny:

“First and foremost, our hearts are with the family and loved ones of Manny Collins. We cannot begin to imagine the depth of their grief, and we share in their sorrow over this unimaginable loss. While nothing can undo the pain they’ve endured, we hope the arrest and charging of Jordan Dupree Collins brings a small measure of peace and the assurance that justice is being pursued.”
Johnston went on to commend the collaborative work of investigators and partner agencies, saying their combined efforts have been "instrumental in moving this case forward."
Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise also shared condolences with the family, particularly Manny’s mother, Ashley:
“The disappearance, and now death investigation of Manny Collins has been a heart-wrenching case for all involved, mostly for his mother Ashley. While nothing can fill the hole in our community due to Manny’s loss, I hope that the arrest of Jordan Collins Sr. will bring some peace to those who love him. Detectives have tirelessly worked to determine where Manny was and what happened to him.”
According to court records, Jordan Dupree Collins appeared in custody on the morning of July 9 for arraignment at the Anoka County Courthouse. The court appointed an attorney to represent him at his request. Prosecutors emphasized that Collins is presumed innocent until proven guilty and is entitled to a fair trial under Minnesota law.
Citing serious public safety and flight risk concerns, the State requested bail to be set at $3 million unconditional or $2 million conditional, with terms including the surrender of any passport, GPS monitoring, and a ban on firearm possession. The court granted this request.
Anoka County Attorney Brad Johnson acknowledged the emotionally difficult nature of the case for the community and Manny’s loved ones:
“The criminal complaint contains certain details necessary to support the charge filed. All criminal justice partners recognize that these details are heart-wrenching. Out of respect for Manny’s friends and family and to preserve the integrity of the investigation and judicial process, the Anoka County Attorney’s Office will reserve further comment at this time.”
He confirmed that experienced prosecutors and victim-witness specialists from his office have been assigned to the case and will continue working alongside law enforcement to seek justice for Manny.
This investigation has involved multiple agencies, including the Columbia Heights Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The community remains in mourning, and a memorial for Manny has begun to grow near the family’s Columbia Heights home.
