Plymouth Invites Artistic Expression in 6th Annual Fire & Ice Coloring Contest

The city of Plymouth is calling on residents of all ages to bring forth their artistic talents in the annual Fire & Ice coloring contest, now entering its sixth year. The contest kicked off today and will continue accepting submissions until Friday, Jan. 17, at 4:30 p.m. Enthusiasts and aspiring artists are encouraged to take part by showcasing their creativity without the aid of digital enhancements, as it was disclosed in a recent bulletin on the city's webpage.

Participants can download the appropriate coloring entry sheet for their age category directly from the Fire & Ice webpage, with divisions ranging from the youngest group of 3-4 year-olds to the adult category welcoming ages 18 and up. In order to ensure fairness and the full expression of individual creativity, the rules distinctly prohibit the use of computer editing software. All other art materials, however, are fair game for contestants.

For those ready to submit their artwork, entries can be submitted online or in person by visiting either the Plymouth City Hall at 3400 Plymouth Blvd or the Plymouth Community Center at 14800 34th Ave. N. This community-led contest not only fosters artistic expression but also leads up to the much-anticipated Fire & Ice winter festival, a hub of wintry fun and activities set to take place Feb. 1.

Winners of the coloring contest will be publicly announced on Tuesday, Jan. 21, through the city’s official social media platforms and on the Fire & Ice webpage. The victors will not solely gain the recognition of their peers but will also be awarded with gift cards.

In anticipation of the Fire & Ice festival, residents can look forward to a day filled with traditional winter activities at Plymouth Creek Playfield come Feb. 1, from 3-9 p.m. The annual event promises ice skating, sledding, and more frosty pursuits for the family. Added attractions like a llama meet-and-greet and live music under a heated tent further color the day’s happenings, ensuring an event brimming with community spirit and warmth amidst the chill of Minnesota’s winter.
