Boys Arrested In Connection To Robbinsdale's Only Homicide Of 2024

Treyvon Molette was found with a gunshot wound to the chest after he crashed his car.

Two teenage boys have been arrested in connection to the killing of a man in Robbinsdale in early December.

Robbinsdale Police Department held a press conference on Friday announcing the arrests of a 17-year-old and 16-year-old in connection to the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Treyvon Marcellis Molette, of Hastings, on Dec. 2.

Both have been charged via warrant after the 17-year-old was arrested in Bismarck, North Dakota and the 16-year-old was arrested in Coon Rapids. The older of the two is awaiting extradition, according to police.

Police say robbery is a suspected motive in the killing, with charges alleging that a cellphone belonging to the 16-year-old boy was found in Molette's car. Investigators believe Molette had been in the area to sell two THC vape cartridges to the suspect.

The incident

Officers were called to the intersection of Lowry Avenue and Indiana Avenue on a report of shots fired at around 5 p.m. on Dec. 2. Police were advised of a crash detection from a cellphone in that area while responding to the scene.

Authorities arrived to find a car that had crashed at the intersection, with Molette sitting in the driver seat suffering from a gunshot wound.

Molette was taken to North Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

An active police investigation remains ongoing. Molette's killing was the only homicide in Robbinsdale in the whole of 2024.
