Coon Rapids Seeks Skilled Volunteers For Sustainable Living Workshops At Civic Center

The City of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, is calling on volunteers who possess the knowledge and skill to mend garments and fix lamps. In an attempt to empower community members with practical skills and foster a culture of sustainability, the city announced two upcoming workshops dedicated to clothes mending and lamp repair.

Set to occur at the Coon Rapids Civic Center, the Clothes Mending Class is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Lamp Repair Class is slated for Saturday, March 8, from the same hours. The city's social media post, sourced from the official Facebook page of the City of Coon Rapids, MN - Local Government, indicates that at least two volunteers for each class are needed to help guide participants through the processes.

Enthusiasts and professionals with the ability and willingness to teach others are encouraged to step forward. They will be playing a key part in these events designed to not only upskill residents but also promote more sustainable living practices. Through repairing clothes and lamps, the community can reduce waste and extend the life of everyday items.

Individuals interested in volunteering for either class are urged to promptly reach out to the city's Recycling Coordinator. Community members who wish to learn and participate are equally welcome to join. The city's announcement also states volunteers can sign up by contacting the coordinator at 763-767-6485 or by sending an email to csinclair@coonrapidsmn.gov.
