Traffic Resumes On Highway 10 After Truck Hits Bridge In Coon Rapids

The incident happened around 11 a.m. following the collision, which occurred near the junction with Round Lake Boulevard.

COON RAPIDS, Minn. — Both eastbound lanes of traffic on Highway 10 in Coon Rapids has resumed after a dump truck hit a bridge late Tuesday morning.

MnDOT confirmed the highway reopened around 2 p.m. after being shut down for several hours because of the crash. According to officials, the incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. at the junction with Round Lake Boulevard.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the driver of the dump truck was merging onto eastbound Highway 10 from Round Lake Boulevard when its dump trailer struck the bridge infrastructure. Investigators say the trailer was in an elevated position while the truck was pulling it, and struck the bridge as it tried to go under.

At that point, the trailer came off the truck, temporarily blocking the eastbound lanes of Highway 10. Investigators say no other vehicles were involved in the incident and no one was injured.

Traffic both on and under the bridge was shut down as inspection crews were called in to examine the bridge for structural damage.
