The Coon Rapids Police Department recently celebrated a milestone with their Police Explorers during the 50th annual Police Explorers Conference in Rochester, MN. A social media post from the department expressed their pride and detailed the events of the past weekend. "Our Coon Rapids Police Explorers had a fantastic time at the 50th annual Police Explorers Conference in Rochester, MN this past weekend! They connected with teams from across the state and competed fiercely—what an incredible achievement!" as stated by the Coon Rapids Police Department.
The Explorers program, which involves youth aged 14-21, gives participants a hands-on experience with the realities of policing by allowing them to engage in exercises that simulate situations like burglary and assaults, alongside seasoned officers. Their recent competitive foray appears to have served both as a platform for learning and strength display, of community and skill.
In continuation of their commitment to fostering the next generation of law enforcement professionals, the department announced the imminent recruitment drive for the program. Anyone between the ages of 14 and 21 with a knack for problem-solving is encouraged to consider joining. "Think you’ve got what it takes? If you’ve ever solved a problem by following the evidence, even when it was just a missing TV remote... you might already have the skills of a future police officer! Stay tuned for more information,” the Coon Rapids Police Department noted.
