ANOKA, MN – May 20, 2025 — Twelve cities within Anoka County have come together to form a collaborative agreement aimed at optimizing street maintenance operations. This joint effort seeks to leverage collective purchasing power, share resources, and streamline services to achieve cost savings and improve infrastructure quality across the region.

The partnership is set to commence operations on July 1, 2025, under a joint powers agreement that establishes a shared governance structure. A steering committee, comprising public works directors and city managers from the member cities, will oversee procurement decisions, project scheduling, and quality control measures.
City officials anticipate that this collaboration will lead to significant efficiencies and cost savings in street maintenance expenditures, benefiting residents through improved road conditions without additional tax burdens.
